Bill was keen to join the Army but was rejected on medical grounds and so was recruited to the Patrol by his father.

Other information
Known as Bill he was the son of John. He married Elizabeth Hall in 1950.
He never owned his own farm yet seemed to have been a farmer all his working life. In old age he often spoke of the secret army but was in the first stages of dementia and not too many people believed him. He was remembered as a dear soul and a gentleman through and through. He spent his final days in a home in Yorkshire, to be nearer to his daughter.
