His daughter Wendy remembers him as a very "dapper" man. Wearing white gloves and a scarf when he took his reluctant passenger wife on the back of his motorcycle to dances down in Weymouth. He was very resourceful being able to make his own wireless set.
"Dad was a very practical person and a bit of an entrepreneur, building his own radio and TV sets and was a “Radio Ham“. He built what is now the Gurkha Restaurant in Weymouth Harbour many years ago, it looked like Noah’s Ark !! He did it in sections and took to site on top of his Morris Traveller".
