The son of Alfred and Beatrice (nee Thomas) Groom, Aubrey and Tudor and Albert Francis were brothers. He married Ruth Hanford in 1946.

Tudor was posted from 20th Battalion Home Guard 16 Aug 1943.
Tudor Groom, a brother to Aubrey Eric, had also helped on the estate similarly to Albert Francis, and was also a forestry worker, and in a reserved occupation during the war. Even late in life, he was an excellent shot; the family joke was he could blow the gonads off a fly at 30 yards with a shotgun !
