Upon his death in 1986, his son Richard junior, also a Vicar, came across a suitcase full of papers. Among the old sermons and church meetings were notes on troop movements and drawings of Battalion insignia. There were also two official stand down letters thanking him for his service in Special Duties. Similar ones would have been sent to all Special Duties civilians.

The son of Frederick and Amy, he married Ethel Davies in Gorseinon in Jan 1928. He died in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.
He was Ordained in Dec 1925. By 1958 he was the Vicar of Blaenavon and was appointed the new Rector of Whitchurch with Ganarew, near Monmouth.
