The son of Dr Frank Bice and his wife Mary he married Winifred George in 1934.
John was a well known local wrestler was an undefeated middleweight wrestling champion of Cornwall. He was Mayor of Liskeard in the 1950s. His obituary reads that he was a prominent figure in the public and business life of Liskeard.
