Lance Sergeant E. Smith has been identified East Norfolk Scout Section possible member based on his SAS service and a serial number very close to other known members of the Section. Very few men from this Regiment joined the SAS so it seems likely many were recruited from this Scout Section.
He served in North Africa earning the Africa Star with 8th Army "8", then Italy Star and France and Germany Star. He is known to have served with the SRS in Italy (the SAS name in Italy in 1943) He later joins the Royal Artillery. This sequence of service means it is unlikely he was recruited from the Scout Section, but we cannot confirm either way at present.
