Biography
Aubrey was the Sergeant of Margam Patrol. The son of Alfred and Beatrice (nee Thomas) Groom, Aubrey and Tudor and Albert Francis were brothers. Aubrey married Betha Louisa Higgs in Westminster in 1937.

After being part of the gamekeeper staff on the Margam Estate he became an engineer after the estate could no longer afford to maintain itself. He was a mining/mechanical engineer at the nearby Aberbaiden colliery at the outbreak of the war, and hence a reserved occupation. He later joined the British Steel Company.
Aubrey played rugby for Aberavon in his youth.
