The Royal Signals Stand Down photo shows a Second Lieutenant Weatherhead.
The Army List for 1944 Quarter 3 has only 2 Royal Signals Officers listed and only one had the rank of Second Lieutenant. This was A. J. Weatherhead and has been assumed he is the man in the photo.
The son of Arthur and Helen, Andrew Weatherhead had been born in Uganda. His father had been in the Colonial Service. He had attended Sherborne school where as well as editing the school newsletter, he also won a poetry prize. He continued to write poetry during the war and afterwards. In 1946 he apparently joined the Dominican Order.
He died in Sussex.
