Later 4th Battalion Dorsets, then 1 SAS 1 Feb 1944. Died in Exercise Bulbasket 7 July 1944 and is buried alongside his fallen comrades at Rom Communal Cemetery, Deux-Sevres, France alongside his fallen comrades. British Army Casualty Lists report on 4 July 1944 he had previously reported missing believed to be a prisoner of war but was now reported not missing. He was reported killed in action on or shortly after 7 July 1944.
Alan has a memorial tree planted in his name at Coleshill Estate.
