Other information
William Skelly was in the 11th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry in France during 1918 -19. He also appears to have enlisted into the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
William Skelly was a local butcher and the shop still remains on the main street in Berwick. He was also employed by the Government as a meat valuer during WW2. This involved travelling around Northumberland valuing meat at Auction Marts. Very handy for travelling around without any questions being asked.
