He was a noted greyhound breeder post war. Newspaper articles document his assistance after an air crash at Manston in a Battle of Britain display in 1948.
William was fined £1 in April 1941 for showing a light after black out. The offence was committed at 11pm on 29th March. The defendant said he must have left the light on while reporting for "Home Guard" duty.
