William was the Sergeant of St. Dennis Patrol, Cornwall. Sergeant Meagor was near neighbour of Auxiliers Willcox and Trethewey on Wellington Road. He was awarded the Commander-in-Chief's certificate for Good Service.

Carpenter
Born in Wadebridge he was the son of William and Jane Meagor. He married Henrietta Ham in 1908, she died in 1924. He re-married Ivy Nichols in 1928. He worked as a carpenter and builder for E.C.L.P & Co at Drinnick Yard.
A WW1 veteran he served as Corporal 37577 in the Royal Engineers.
In his youth he played football for St Dennis and played Chess for the County. He had a long connection with the Church, singing in the choir and the local Labour Party where he was Chairman. He served on the Parish Council as Chairman, the committee of the Cooperative Society and was a prime mover in obtaining land for St Dennis playing field.
His obituary recalls him as a quiet, unostentatious man but when he spoke he invariably had something worth while to contribute. He gave a great deal of his spare time in service to his fellow man.
