The son of Robert Sn and Feta, William was the brother of Auxilier Robert Prout and next door neighbour of William Magor. He married Edith F Bassett in 1940.
The brothers both worked in a slate quarry, William as an above ground slate splitter so they would have some working knowledge of explosives.
