Known as John.
Company Sergeant Major Budden wrote his memoirs after the war, a copy is held at British Resistance Museum in Suffolk.
The following was given at the end of Mr Budden’s memoir: “RULES OF THE GAME. If the enemy came into our area. Make any move at night. Show no lights. Leave no tell tale marks or tracks. Drop nothing which could give away your whereabouts. Get in to our OB preferably at dusk. Our greatest advantage was knowing our own small area intimately.”
