Other information
Sydney was a cousin of Auxilier Frank Hannaford's wife Mabel, from Brixham in Devon. They often visited Mulllion before and after the war. It can only be wondered at how the conversation went when Sydney and Frank first saw each others lapel badge.
Sydney was a WW1 veteran. He served in the 3rd Battalion Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry as Private 24328 from Jan 1916 to Aug 1919. He served in Germany. He requested a transfer to Labour Battalion, Devonshire Regiment (91678) to hasten him serving in the theatre of war. He is recorded as being 5 foot 4 inches.
