Other information
Sid was a gardener at Sidbury Manor for Sir Edward Cave. He was a World War 1 veteran having served in Sorrento in Italy and in Iraq. He remained in the Army and served in Ireland after the war.
His son Tom remembers him disappearing at weekends but no questions were ever asked of his whereabouts. He would often carry a revolver around with him and after work it was just left on the side board for all to see.
Sid's son Tom went on to serve 40 years with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and was awarded the M.B.E.
