Sidney was the Group Commander of Group 6 Devon.
Born in Hammersmith, London he married Marjorie French in 1916.

Promoted to Lieutenant 1st February 1941 and to Captain 9th November 1942 he was the Group Commander of East Devon, Group 6.
Known as "Woody" he travelled everywhere in a motorcycle and sidecar.
His Granddaughter, Mrs Bradshaw, recalls him as a fisherman and water bailiff and also a poacher ! The 1939 Register records him as a retired farmer. The house was near the Cemetery gate and was falling down around him.
