A First World War veteran he was commissioned 3rd December 1915 Monmouth Regiment. He appears to have left Auxiliary Units in April 1944. He was awarded the Defence Medal at stand down. In 1968 he wrote a short article on his memories of forming Auxiliary Units. It is available in the Isle of Wight Archives.
