Milk round man
Transferred out from Auxiliary Units.
Born to Ruric and Florence Watson he is recorded in 1939 as Ronald R. Watson and is working for his father who is a Pharmacist. He married Joyce Challen in 1952.
Daughter Paula says, "I've come across a photo of him in uniform - I thought he was in the Home Guard in Debenham, as I was unaware of the Auxiliary Units until after Dad died, in 2014 at the age of 91. Dad would have signed the Official Secrets Act which explains why he never talked about his War experiences.
He was born in 1922 so he would have been in his late teens/early 20s during the War. I believe he 'stayed at home' because of his poor eyesight. Dad was a member of the Royal Observer Corps in the 1960s, he took me down the ROC post in Debenham once which was a couple of hundred yards from their house up Little London Hill. Dad talked about doing a milk round so I imagine he would have done this during the war as well as helping out in his father's chemist shop in Debenham. I remember he had a rifle in the cupboard in the hall at home which was handed in to Debenham Police Station when there was a gun amnesty!
I vaguely remember Mr Harris (same Patrol) as he was my Mum's first Headmaster when she came to teach at Debenham Primary School in 1950. He became a priest and came to Mum's retirement service in Debenham Church in 1979."
