Defence Medal Awarded. In 1939 and at the time of a reunion in January 1950 he was living at 44 Gassiot Way, Sutton, Surry.
On the night of Saturday / Sunday 25th / 26th April 1942 after the first air raid, Judson went from house to house helping out injured people in Lower Oldfield Park. At the bottom of Cedar Walk a house was on fire. Judson and Private R. Connor (of C Company) entered and with the use of a door as a stretcher brought out the injured, including Mrs Wright, an elderly lady and one other. Mr Wright was dead.
Numerous other incidents which Private Judson is reluctant to relate included rescue of people both dead and alive from under the debris.
The report from his Sergeant reads "I would recommend Private R. M Judson of Number 5 Patrol and Private R. Connor of C Company, both of the 6th Somerset Battalion for their conspicuous behaviour, who by their immediate action during the raid, rescued at least 40 persons buried under the debris at various incidents".
