The son of William and Florence Reed. In 1921 he is working as an outfitter for the Co-op in Wellington. Married Doris Clare Worner 5 July 1930 in Bristol.
He became the managing director of Ditcheat Manufacturing Company Ltd of Wells, part of the Clare Group of companies having joined the company in 1934. On the day of his death he went into the office as usual at 7.30 am but was taken ill in his office an hour later. A Doctor was called and he was taken to hospital but died an hour later. He had supported many local charities, was a prominent Freemason, school Governor and a member of Wells Conservative Club.

Manager textile factory
On 15 Dec 1945 the Wells Group of Somerset Auxiliers had a stand down meal at the Bekynton Cafe in Wells. The men are listed in their Patrols. Percy is listed with a star next to his name indicating he has been in Auxiliary Units from formation.
