Posted to 20th Hampshire Battalion Home Guard 22nd August 1944.
A WW1 veteran he was hospitalised for 10 days after a gun shot wound to the abdomen on 11 April 1916. 15 days after his release he suffered another gun shot wound to his side and he stayed in hospital for 21 days. He was invalided out after a gun shot wound to the left leg breaking his bone on 9 Aug 1918 which resulted in a 42 day stay in hospital.
He was a Sergeant in the West Hampshire Regiment, service number 10836 and served from 5 Sept 1914. He was recorded as being 5 foot 10 inches tall.
