He left Auxiliary Units and joined 8th Battalion Home Guard (Avon Valley) March 1943 and became ammunition officer with the rank of Lieutenant 15th April 1943. He resigned from Home Guard 27th September 1943 due to change of employment.
A First World War veteran, he joined army 30 Nov 1915 then RFC 4 Aug 1916 and transferred to RAF. He served up to 18 July 1919 as motor cyclist then to reserve on 10 Sept 1919. Service no 46798.
