Biography

The sons of Thomas and Margaret, Leslie and Charles were brothers. Born at 4 Sunnyside, Ridge. He married Ida D "Queenie" Stockley in 1938. Les was a clay miner underground at Norden claypits by Pike Bros / Fayle & Co, as was his brother Charlie.

Joined the Home Guard 26 Feb 1942 and transferred to Auxiliary Units 28 May 1943 as L.F. Glover. Les, his brother Charlie, and Eli Kittcatt from Creech Patrol all feature in a documentary about the clay-mining industry in Purbeck. Les can be seen at 18 mins 10 secs to 19 mins.
