Len Crackett was remembered as the first Sergeant in the Patrol although Henner Moscrop is recorded as the Patrol Sergeant. Len may have left, or was unable to commit the time to be in the Patrol, we may never know.
His son recalled; "Len Crackett and his close friends spent time underground in Chevington Wood during the second world war. I knew he was involved the organisation with Jimmy Jobson, Henry "Henner" Moscrop, Mr Simpson, Mr Dalby and Albert "Bart" Smith but didn't realise Mr Scott was also there. I remember my father keeping a .22 silenced rifle fitted with a telescopic site, a knuckle duster and a Number 76 grenade in the wardrobe at home. I was also told he and others would on occasions go to Balmoral and live rough in the grounds when the Royal Family were there. He told me that the Queen and Princess Margaret would play a game of trying to find them. Once discovered they would have to re-locate."
