Private Leonard Archibald Scott Bastin
08 Mar 1900 - 26 Dec 1968
Biography
Leonard would leave home during the war to go for unspecified Home Guard duties. It was only when his son joined the Royal Navy that he told him something about his wartime activities. He was issued with rubber boots which had stood out as being unusual. He had referred to an "elephant shelter", the name used for the corrugated iron structures similar to a Nissen hut, that the underground hideouts were often built from.
He was Fellow No.46 of the Worshipful Company of Farriers.
