Poultry farmer
Later in life Lawrence was the Musbury Parish Council Chairman.
Lawrence made the national news in 1983 when he accidently ran amok with his muck-spreader and covered Musbury village with dung ! Driving through the village on his way home, Lawrence forgot to turn off his spreader. As the tractor had a soundproof cab he couldn't hear the manure spreader at work and was unaware of the chaos in his wake and by the time he had got home he had covered eight cars, seven houses, the Post Office and several angry villagers in slurry. When he finally realised what had happened he is reported to have said; "Is my face red ? I think I'd better do some cleaning up !"
