Johnson is recorded as a first Intelligence officer of Glamorganshire before South Wales counties merged. Dillwyn Thomas from Margam Patrol recalled training at Porthcawl.
He was commissioned 13 July 1940, and appointed without pay and allowances (indicating working for Military Intelligence).
Johnson's SOE file reports he was only with SOE 15 Aug 1941 - 21 Aug 1941 with no explanation given. The file does say that he was with Lord Bearsted at MI6 for a short while (which may indicate early involvement with the Special Duties Branch which was under Lord Bearsted or the Home Defence Organisation).
Married Mollie V Fitzgerald, Kensington 1935. They lived at Henley on Thames in 1939. He was 6ft 5 inches tall.
