The son of John and Annie he married Florence (Mary) Redhead 10 Aug 1940. A newspaper article about the wedding states he had been in the Army for 2 months so he may have enlisted June 1940. It also states he had been a Manager at the Peterborough Co-op butchery on Sergeant Street for 6 years. He had been a member of Fletton M.C.C for many years and one four medals in the Norman Cross trials.
