Sergeant John “Jack” Steward
Biography
Jack Steward was a regular, having enlisted in 1930. He had served in India, returning to the U.K. shortly before war broke out.
While based at Mill House, he met Doris Chilver, whom he married in 1941, having daughter Olive in 1942. After the war they lived just a few hundred yards from Mill House.
On completion of his time with Auxiliary Units he was subsequently attached to the Royal West African Frontier Force. He served in the Burma campaign.
