His obituary notes he was Chairman of the Morval Memorial Hall Management Committee and it was his enthusiasm and drive that brought the scheme to a successful conclusion.
The son of John and Annie, he was born and died at Cleese Farm which his father had farmed before him. He married Marjorie Davis in 1933 in Battersea. Before the war he also ran The Watch House Cafe at Looe and had plans to run the Cabin Cafe but the war meant that was used for other purposes.
He played cricket for Cornwall and hockey for Liskeard and did much to encourage sport in the young of Morval. He was also very active in amateur dramatics.
