Corporal John Philipson "Phil" Robson

Biography
The son of George and Ann he married Eleanor B Young in 1921.
"Phil" Robson was a local mole catcher from Netherwhitton. He had served in WW1 joining up in 1915 aged 20 and was in the Kings Royal Rifle Corps 5th Battalion, the infantry unit were based in Winchester. He took part in the Battle of Flers-Courcelette. He was wounded in the leg 15 Sept 1916 and almost lost the injured leg but luckily a young doctor worked on it and saved the limb. He was discharged due to this 3 Nov 1917. He was recorded as 5 foot 7 inches tall with dark brown hair, brown eyes and a fresh complexion.
