Grandson Michael Graham; "I remember he was a tall person and during the war years had various jobs all at the same time. He was a farm manager at Shellacres Farm, was a tenant farmer at Gatherick Farm, ran the local grass drying plant near Learmouth, Cornhill for the whole time it operated, was a sales rep for Coopers who made products such as sheep dip and livestock wormers. He was a quiet non assuming man. I can remember as a child seeing photographs when Melrose was sent to protect the Royal Family when staying at Balmoral Castle".
An all round sportsman when younger, playing football in Crookham and District League, hockey for Glendale and cricket for Tillside. In 1953 he became Director of Berwick Rangers Football Club. He was a long term Chairman of Berwick and Borders Branch of National Farmers Union and a capable pianist.
