Jack Slightam, was Huntsman for the New Forest Buckhounds at the Kennels at Brockenhurst. Until 1937 he had been a keeper at Holly Hatch. One son served in the RAF as a Flight Engineer during the war, but learnt of Jack's role and was told that there were “tunnels and hideaways throughout the New Forest”. Another son was apprenticed to Arthur Fisher at his garage, but left to join REME. This might suggest he could also have been involved in the Patrol as early members are not recorded in the nominal roll.
