Biography
James joined the Royal Navy Signals 2 July 1915. His record states he was 5 foot 5 inches tall with a fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes. He showed a desire to serve at sea. He later joined the Royal Fusiliers as Private 83866.
He married Annie Patterson in 1924.
