Career
Spencer has been identified as a possible member of the East Norfolk Scout Section based on his Army Number and subsequent SAS service. He is known to have joined the SAS by Apr 1944. Only a handful of soldiers from the Royal Norfolk Regiment served in the wartime SAS including at least two from this section.
After enlisting in the Lincolnshire Regiment he transferred on 23 Jun 1940 to the Royal Norfolk Regiment's 8th Battalion.
He served with 2 SAS on Operation Tombola as Corporal Spencer.
We would be very interested to hear from anyone who able to confirm or refute this supposition.
