Phillips was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in recognition of “Meritorious Service in the Home Guard” in December 1944.
Ivor Phillips, before joining the Admiralty, was a cameraman at a film studio. It is known that he filmed some training sessions but it is unknown if they survive.
The son of Noel and Phoebe Phillips who in 1910 were of Manor House, Stoke D'Abernon, Cobham, Surrey. He married Ellen Paisley in 1933. In 1947 he took over Sheepbell Farm, Stoke D'Abernon which he used as a seed research station for Nickerson Reserach Organisation until his retirement to Malta in 1969. The farm was then sold after 5 generations.

He was promoted to Second Lieutenant 6th January 1944. At the time of a reunion in January 1950 he is living at Sheepbell Farm, Stoke d'Abernon, Cobham, Surrey. He was the Honorary Auditor of the 203rd GHQ Reserve (Bath Admiralty) Association.
