Herbert Gillyon was the original Sergeant of Beverley South Patrol and was promoted to Group Sergeant Clerk of Group 7.
"Happy" was involved in a dramatic rescue of a 10 year old boy in 1938 from drowning in Beverley Beck. The newspaper reported his "best suit was ruined".
