Mick was the eldest son of Corporal Frank Hannaford and his wife Mabel (nee Williams). He married Margaret Emmett in 1945.

Other information
Herbert, often known as “Mick” (from Mickey Mouse !) worked at Philip & Son Shipyard at Noss on the banks of the River Dart alongside John Baker. Mick survived when Noss was bombed 18th September 1942 killing 20 men and women including his uncle John Martin.
Post war he went on to join the Royal Navy and the family moved to Yate, near Bristol.
