Great Bealings Patrol | Patrol Leader | Unknown | 03 Dec 1944 |
Permanent way labourer
Father of Auxilier Victor Stemp in the same Patrol. He was recorded as discharged due to work March 1943 but still recorded on Hancock data as Patrol Leader at stand down. Possibly the note actually relates to his son who left for the Army. The restriction on being called up was lifted at this time. The list that includes this has only three Patrol members recorded including Henry Stemp, presumably being drawn up after the younger members left for the Army.
In 1939 Register, his occupation was Permanent Way Labourer. He was said (source unknown) to be Station Master. If this is correct, then a possibility is that he stood in for usual station master who was called up?
