His family recall stories he told of being trained to use a hat pin on the Jugular vein to kill the enemy and the Patrol went to RAF Charmy Down on exercise. The men used to sit in the OB at night playing cards.
He was awarded a Home Guard stand down certificate, and Auxiliary lapel badge. He served in the HG and Auxiliary units – 31 May 1940 to 31 Dec 1944.
