Private Hedley Victor Lander

Biography
Hedley Lander was much older than the other Patrol members and a military veteran. He had served in the Royal Marines in the First World War with record number CH1703/1. Unusually he is recorded as having been conscripted to the Home Guard in Dec 1942. He is recorded as transferring to the Auxiliary Units on 14 Jan 1943.
He both farmed and ran a dairy and owned land at Castle View. He also had a quarry on the land which was worked from time to time. His family and that of Douglas Norman were close friends.
