Biography
Harry spent all his life at The Weirs near Brockenhurst in the cob cottage where he was born in 1925. He kept chicken and geese for their eggs and meat and crops were grown on the 6 acres he owned. To top up his small income from the smallholding he also worked for the Forestry Commission as a contactor.

Harry was buried in Brockenhurst. Harry Burt lived in a Forester’s cottage at South Weirs. Harry Burt’s cottage became infamous for having been left to decay, despite being a listed building and allowed to collapse into ruin, eventually being destroyed and apparently replaced. The New Forest Museum has a replica on display alongside a representation of Harry.
