On 5 Sep 1931 he married Molly (Norah Prudence Molly Turberville) Hume-Thomas at St Augustine's Church in Penarth. She was the niece of one of his partners. In September 1939 he was an Auxiliary Ambulance Driver in Cardiff. During the war he was in partnership with AEF Williams, another member of Special Duties. Their partnership was dissolved in 1945, noting that the company, Grizelle and Co., had branches at Cardiff, Newport and Bridgend. There had been a Portcawl office before the war, but this was separated off in October 1940.
In 1953 he moved to Swansea. He became National President of the Faculty of Architects and Surveyors.
