Gerald James Sporle

Transferred out of Auxiliary Units. He recalled having a sub-machine gun, a Smith & Wesson revolver, 12 grenades and 150 rounds of ammunition. Some he kept at home in his bedroom and when someone told the police and they threatened to arrest him he gave them a phone number to ring. He never heard any more about it.

As a young lad he sent a lot of time shooting pheasants at his family home, Highfield so was an excellent shot. He was also a keen and fast motor-cycle, scrambling and grass track racer.
