Other information
He worked all his life as an estate handyman for Lord Downe of the Wykeham Estates.
He told his Grandson a little about his service although, sadly he can’t remember much. He did say that he had undergone aircraft sabotage training at Middleton St George aerodrome and that the creation of the Auxiliary Patrol had caused much bad feeling and suspicion within the wider Home Guard.
His daughter does remember him disappearing fairly frequently at weekends and once returning with some fancy gloves he’d bought for her in London.
