Biography
Geoff Bowery was at Gibraltar Barracks, Bury St Edmunds when he saw a notice about applying for Special Military Duties. After an interviewed he was recruited to the Scout Section and promoted to Corporal. He was told to meet a 3 ton lorry at a specified point in the barracks and found himself with Lt Macintyre and several other men. They were driven to The Lodge at Cransford. They found a cook already there who had prepared a meal.

Rex Chaston of Saxmundham Patrol recalled Bowery always drove the truck which was limited to 1 mph below the speed limit.
The son of Walter and Lily he married Doris Wood in 1939.
