Other information
Frank originally went to join up at Ashington at the start of WW2. He wanted to join the Coldstream Guards like his father and uncle but was refused due to the army policy of not having siblings and relatives in the same unit following the mistakes of WW1.
Frank instead was posted to the Middlesex Regiment (Machine Gun). He however suffered a leg injury and was put on the Reserve List and returned to farming near Morpeth. Here he was recruited by the Auxiliary Units and trained with Captain Anthony Quayle.
Always found in the Joiner's Arms in Morpeth on Wednesday afternoons. His wife did the weekly shop at the local market while Frank had several pints.
