Frank Penfold began his Auxiliary Unit career as a member of Drewett’s Goodward Patrol. However, this was only for a few months until he was asked to form the Arundel Patrol.
Frank's daughter recalled, as a young girl, walking in the woods with her father who pointed out the OB site. She also remembered during a 1960s amnesty her father, reluctantly, handing in a revolver from storage in the loft to Littlehampton Police Station. For years a dagger (Fairbairn-Sykes) was in a kitchen draw and used as a letter opener. This is now in the Imperial War Museum.
It was only towards the end of his life he spoke of his Auxiliary Unit role. His son John was interviewed in 2018.
