The son of James and Olive from Moretonhamstead. In 1939 he was lodging at The Bungalow, Riviera Terrace, Exmouth.
Francis was involved with a shotting incident at Hooperton Farm, Crockernwell which lead to his death. A farm labourer, Phillip Reed, was shot dead whilst walking home with his brother one evening. Police dogs followed a scent and found the body of Francis Wotton in a copse behind Hooperton Farm, with a shotgun nearby.
